ACTIVE GRANTS

EXODUS REFUGEE IMMIGRATION (IN)

The Clowes Fund is committed to providing information on our grantmaking activities in a clear and timely manner. The Fund is pleased to have awarded approximately $138 million since its founding in 1952.

In 2023, The Clowes Fund distributed over $3 million in total grantmaking, including $2.69 million to qualified charitable organizations in five states through its competitive grant cycle, and $417,350 through our Matching Grant Program for Members, Directors and Employees. (Other non-competitive grants include: Emergency; Commemorative; Birthday; Art Transfer.) Click here to review a draft list of all grants paid in 2023, which includes payments on grants awarded in past years.

Among the 54 new competitive grants awarded in 2023:
63% are in New England; 37% are in Indiana.
43% are for Workforce Development; 50% are for Immigrant Services;
and 7% are for other fields of interest.
57% of these grantee organizations are led by a person of color.

The value of the Fund’s grants is challenging to measure. One way we demonstrate impact is through the number of people served as an indicator of scale. According to grant applications, the Fund’s 2023 new competitive grant recipients seek to help more nearly 500,000 people. That number includes more than 170,000 immigrants who will access legal representation, English classes, mental health support, or help to navigate community resources to improve their chances of safety and stability in the United States. The number also includes nearly 100,000 people currently facing systemic barriers to employment; they will soon connect with training and workforce development opportunities with the goal of providing for themselves, their families and their community. The Fund is proud to know that its grantee partners will help our neighbors in these impactful ways.
