Tips for grantseekers

  1. Incomplete or late applications, multiple requests, applications not received via GOapply, and applications that do not follow the formatting requirements will not be considered.

  2. The 3-5 quantifiable Measurable Results in your application should match what you describe in the Narrative requirement. These results will be the benchmark from which you report on outcomes each year. Use clear and concise language; avoid acronyms and jargon, as reviewers may not know your organization or industry. Fund staff does not prescribe outcomes; instead, we ask you–the expert–to determine how to measure success.

  3. The Clowes Fund will not support activities that occur prior to approval of the grant.  In the spring, our grants review committees and board will consider your proposal, and funding decisions will be communicated by July. Given that timeline, a new request should be for work that begins July 1 or later.

  4. Introductory Applications are accepted for Immigrant Services and Workforce Development priorities only.

  5. Most Introductory Grants are awarded to organizations with operating budgets of less than $2.5 million. If your operating budget exceeds $2.5 million, contact a program officer before submitting an application (in New England, email Megan Reilly; in Indianapolis, email Juan Galeano).
